Tis The season For Ice Fishin

The lakes are frozen, the houses are going out. Pulling my 10 x 20 out on Mille Lacs this weekend. Can't wait to get out and start living the Ice House lifestyle!! I bought a new floating underwater bait bucket at the ice show. Hate dumping minnows at the end of the weekend so it will be interesting to see how it works. You tie a weight to a line, drop it down the hole, tie the bucket (filled with your minnows) to the other end so it floats about 2 ft below the ice, and then next time you open up the holes it should be there with fresh bait acclimated to the cold and the lake. We'll see. Great to have the gas prices down just in time for Ice Fishing season, but I doubt they will stay down long. Thinking of ways to use less propane heating my house. I know when the sun is out, and it shines in my large front window that helps tremendously. I use about 20 lbs per 3 night weekend on average. Not too bad, but as prices rise as they inevitably will, using less would be nice.

Houses continue to sell at a good clip. The key to selling is to price it right the first time, and get some pictures that look good. Just had a listing with a picture inside the house, filled with "stuff". You couldn't see much of the interior space. I think it was priced right, but what a distraction!

If you come across a listing that is already sold, please let me know e-mail me with the listing info at info@fishhouseForSale.com

This 10 x 20 is still available, roomy, looks nice, and perfect for spending winter weekends ice fishing in total comfort! Click the picture above for more info.

Ice Fishing House listings

What recession? Fish House sales continue to be strong. about 20 houses have been marked sold in the last few weeks.

I Just went thru the site, and found some listings that had been sold, but not marked sold. If you come across a sold listing, please e-mail info@FishHouseForSale.com and let me know, I will remove it from the site. For those of you listing houses, please make sure once your house sells you remove it from the site. Simply login to your account, and click the remove listing option. If you forgot your login info, let me know and I will remove your listing for you.

Don't want to jinx us, but the weather sure is looking like we may have an early year this year. I have seen small ponds iced up, the lakes are soon to follow. If you are selling, now is the time to list. If you are buying, the deals wont last long.

Featured Listing

Check out this new Featured Listing. A 10 x 20 at Mille Lacs. http://www.fishhouseforsale.com/info.php?id=32&uid=254 I own a 10 x 20. If you've never experienced the roominess of a 10 x 20 you need to!! Truly a cabin on ice. It is the way to go in style. Try pricing the materials to build and finish a Fish House of this size, (not to mention the ime involved) and you will soon realize $5999.00 is a hot deal! Great as a summer cabin as well. The nice thing about big permanent fish houses is as long as you take care of them, they keep their value. Buy this one, use if for a few years, as sell it for what you paid if not more.

One Million Reasons to own a Fish House This year

Over $ 1 Million Sold!!!!

It has happened!!! As of Oct 23,2008 FishHouseForSale.com has helped to sell over $1 million dollars worth of Fish Houses! 212 Fish Houses have been sold with an average value of $4700.00. Currently there are 83 listings that will account for another $400,000 when they sell. We are proud to be the premiere one stop shop for those looking to buy and sell fish houses. Those buying fish houses have the largest selection in the world, and those selling have the greatest concentration of interested buyers checking out the listings every week!

Given the current economic situation, Fish House sales so far have been unaffected. 7 have already sold on the site in October, and the pace will accelerate into the ice fishing season. As money gets tight, Ice Fishing is a sport that doesn't have to cost a lot of money. If you want to go in style and save some money used fish houses make all the sense in the world. Just like a car, a used house already has the showroom floor depreciation taken out, so you save big!

Most sellers are not getting out of ice fishing, but either going bigger, or smaller, with another fish house once theirs sells. Usually based on the kids growing up and then out. I bought my 10 x 20 I keep on Mille Lacs from a guy whose kids grew up so he downsized. There is always a market for any fish house, large or small, and there are always incredible deals on the site. So if you don't have a fish house, THIS IS the YEAR!!!

Its finally getting colder and soon the ice will be here! Check us out at the St. Paul Ice fishing Show Dec 5,6,7 and pick up one of our free and very popular "LIVE TO ICE FISH, ICE FISH TO LIVE" refrigerator magnets! (hey I can't afford to give away big stuff!) This will be our second year in attendance and last year was a blast!! Spending all weekend at the show running the booth gives you time to really check out all the other products. Hope to see you there!!

Thank you all for your continued support.

Selling used ice fishing houses

Traffic on http://www.fishhouseforsale.com/ is definitely picking up, and will continue to pick up as the fall progresses. From now until about March, many Ice Fishing Houses will be bought and sold. April thru August, is steady, but only about 1/5 the volume of the colder months.

Sometime this fall, we will hit the $1 million dollar mark in sold Ice Houses! We are happy that our website has made searching for your next fish house so easy, and provides maximum exposure to buyers when you are selling. Currently over 85 houses of all types, sizes, and price ranges are listed.

For those selling a house, a few points to remember.:

  • Check out the sold listings to get a good idea of the value of your house. Price it too high and it will sit unsold forever.
  • Clean out the "stuff" before you take pictures!! A clean Fish House is much more attractive than one with "ice fishing gear, buckets, junk etc...(I saw one with an old tire sitting in the house).
  • Be descriptive, the more you tell about your house, the better. Highlight any feature about the Fish house that you especially enjoyed. If I were to sell my 10 x 20 right now, space, and an indoor bathroom for my wife and daughter are features I really like. Its my "cabin on ice" on the weekend, and the more room the better!
  • Be accurate, nobody will buy your house if they are expecting one thing and then get to your house and find something less. It wastes your time and theirs.
Thanks for your participation!
